FOCUS AREA #2 – WHAT DO I WANT AND IS IT IN LINE WITH WHAT GOD WANTS?
I’ve heard it said that Christians talk to God through prayer, God talks to us through our intuition. Our gifts and talents will always be aligned with our heart, not just our mind. Before bed, I will periodically ask God to connect my heart with my mind and each morning I write down my thoughts.
Start with WHY. Everyone has a unique story, told or untold…yet; at our core is our WHY. I really believe it is our duty to figure out our WHY because we owe it to ourselves to be all God has called us to be. In addition, if we choose to not discover it, we might be robbing those around us who could benefit.
The two most important days in your life are the day you were born, and the day you find out why. -Mark Twain
Listen to author and inspirational speaker Simon Sinek discuss WHY in his most downloaded TED Talk of all time.
My belief is that purpose does not exist without faith: I worked at a company for years where my values and beliefs didn’t match the company. I thought my purpose was to build that company. I eventually quit; however, in reflection – God may have placed me there “because” I had faith, because He wanted to show me a “kid” from Stoughton without a degree at the time could achieve extraordinary results. Reflecting back, I lacked the leadership skills and self-awareness at the time allowing their influence to cloud my perception.
These three simple questions have helped guide my Christian purpose, which is to help others unlock their highest potential. I believe these questions will help you identify your – WHY. Refer back to your list of strengths if you need to.
