SpiritFit Music: Workout Music That Inspires And Edifies

The creators of the Christian electronic music series, DreamLab, and soothing instrumental series, Quietime, have come together to form SpiritFit Music. The new company, a division of Go Global Entertainment, produces music for health & fitness instructors as well as individuals looking for inspirational workout music.

The men behind the new fitness music company are the Nashville-based team of Eric Nordhoff and Paul Buono. Buono, a graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music in Boston, is the musician and producer behind most of the mixes. Nordhoff, a former executive at several major Christian music labels, focuses on business development, sales and marketing for the company, while doing some music producing also.

“SpiritFit Music gives me the opportunity to combine all of my passions: my Christian faith, exercise & fitness, music production and being an entrepreneur,” says Nordhoff.

SpiritFit Music began when Nordhoff reached out to Brad Bloom of Faith & Fitness Magazine in early summer 2010. Eric’s vision was to use the music tracks he and Paul had been creating and remix them into appealing product for the health and fitness community. Sensing Bloom’s enthusiasm, the duo began remixing their music. Bloom referred them to fitness instructor, Tonya Larson, who was in the process of developing a new workout DVD. The duo created a custom mix for her workout video for pregnant mothers.

“I have never been more excited about the music on one of my fitness DVD’s than I am about my Glow Prenatal DVD soundtrack,” says Larson, “Spirit Fit provided such inspiring melodies and beats as well as excellent singers and musical artists on the tracks that I chose. Best of all, at the heart of this music is a sincere love of God. This soundtrack truly motivates me when I’m working out and uplifts me body mind and spirit. You can’t beat that!” Tonya Larson’s GLOW: Prenatal Cardio Sculpt releases January 2011.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Tonya, and hope to continue creating special mixes for fitness instructors in the years ahead,” says Buono.

Nordhoff and Buono are producing custom “Burst TRAX” for interval instructors and health consultants, Nathan and Jenni Oates for their website BurstClub.com. Additionally, SpiritFit Music is making faith-based music that chiropractors, massage therapists, fitness instructors, runners organizations, health and wellness organizations can recommend for their patients, customers and members.

Nordhoff aims to offer music that stands up to today’s pop sound. “We want to make music that sounds current for today – only without the lyrics that ‘tear down’,” says Nordhoff. “We want to make music that edifies and inspires. What makes our music inspirational is the encouraging lyrics and messages we think will ‘build-up’ a person’s spirit.”

SpiritFit makes music for Step, Hi-Lo, Sculpting, Yoga-Inspired, Stretching, Massage, Pilate, Interval (Burst), Power-Walking and Running workouts. Nordhoff & Buono are seeing a growing need for heavier, grittier (Hip/Hop, Rap, Rock, Grunge, Latin and Metal) music for Boot Camp and Zumba workouts in particular. Look for those mixes later in 2011.

Initially all of the music mixes will be available for download on the website. Physical CDs will be available in 2011.
