A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Psalm 68:5-6 (NIV)
You’re in a crowded room, yet you feel alone.
You’re in a relationship, still you feel alone.
You have a phone full of contacts, but you don’t feel like you can turn to any of them.
There are times in our lives when we feel lonely. You can’t explain it. You don’t know why. There’s no lack of people in the world, yet in that moment, in that season, you feel alone.
But you are not alone.
Maybe no one in the crowded room, your significant other, or people in your contact list, can understand, but God does.
He sees you.
He knows you.
If you’re without family, He will be your family.
If you need a friend, He will be your friend.
If you need safe loving arms, you can run into His.
No matter what is happening in your life right now, God is with you. He will be who you need. He will send people into your life at just the right time with just the right words.
Let Him comfort you today. Look for His provision. Run into His arms. You are not alone.
October 10 was World Mental Health Day. Your mental health matters. Mental health is part of your overall health and wellness.
You can do something to benefit your mental health today. Get outside. Breathe in some fresh air. Take a walk. Go for a run.
Between my professional training as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and my daily habits of quiet time, fresh air, and movement, I know the importance of taking care of your mental health. We must prioritize our mental health. It impacts everything.
Action Step
Do something for your mental health today. Get outside. Go for a walk. Reach out to someone for help. Check on a friend.
With God and the community of believers, you are never alone.
To be clear, running, time outside, etc., can’t take the place of counseling and medication. Those are necessary to address many mental health issues. But we can all benefit from doing a little something every day to improve our mental health.
