Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Psalm 143:8 (NKJV)
How serious are you about wanting to know the Lord more? To be able to distinguish His voice from all the noise around you?
There’s no rule that says you must have your quiet time, devotions, and prayers in the morning, but I find that what I do in the morning sets the tone for the entire day.
You may not be able to spend a long time in the Word each morning but spending a little time will help set your focus. Lunch or evening may be a better time for a longer or more intentional quiet time, but I believe that a little something is important in the morning.
The verse says, “in the morning.”
If we are serious about getting closer to the Lord and clearly hearing His voice to guide our lives, we need to make time with Him. He is always there. The Word tells us He is ever present. He is I Am. It’s not Him that is unavailable. It is us.
When we seek Him, we will find Him. He wants to show us the way, but we must show up and be willing to listen and obey. Sometimes that includes sacrifice.
He sacrificed everything for you. Could you get up a few minutes early to meet with Him? Like a parent, He wants to spend time with you. Will you make time?
Some ways to meet with Him….
- In the quiet
- Play music
- Open the Bible
- Use an app on your phone
