One of the best parts about what I do is that I get the opportunity to meet spiritually beautiful women and hear their stories. Women come to me because they are ready to make themselves a priority. They are sick and tired of yo- yo dieting, self sabotage, and failing to meet their wellness goals. I specialize in helping busy women make their physical, spiritual, and mental health their number one concern…helping women find balance. I absolutely love what I do!
THE FITNESS ENTHUSIAST
I started off as a Zumba instructor eight years ago. I had been struggling with some of my own weight issues and needed a consistent routine that would help me lose weight. But I had to love my workouts…I hated working out for many reasons. I fell in love with Zumba and other formats and became certified in various formats. I haven’t looked back since.
FITNESS – DO YOU HATE IT OR LOVE IT?
- You HATE IT when body image issues from childhood persist. You can learn to LOVE IT by seeking God to renew your thinking to love yourself.
- You HATE IT when you get bored with the treadmill, group exercise class, diet or other activities that become uninspired routine. You can LOVE IT when you diversify your workouts, surroundings, friends, and meals so that, like God, they remain new, engaging and fun.
- You HATE IT when you just don’t have the energy. You can LOVE IT when you eat, rest and turn to God to thrive in life.
Now as a business owner, personal trainer, health coach, wife, and mom of four, my life has become all about finding the right balance while supporting women as they endeavor to do the same. Finding balance for us is about finding moments to pray throughout the busy moments of the day. It is about being more mindful about the foods we eat and meal prepping to ensure that we have healthy meals on the go. Balance is also having that small piece of chocolate cake at your child’s birthday party and not being ashamed of eating the cake. The ultimate goal for my clients is to learn how to do life while being our best mentally, spiritually, and physically.
THE SERENITY SECRET – WHAT SETS US APART
My husband and I opened Serenity Life Fitness in 2013 in Zion, Illinois. We wanted to offer fitness classes, personal training, and health coaching to women in our area. What sets us apart from other gyms and wellness studios is that we are intentional about having God at the center of everything we do. Serenity Life Fitness is a home for a small group of women looking for a unique wellness experience. We pray together. We support each other during difficult times. We cry together, some tears of triumph and some tears of sadness.
THE BUSINESS OF THE SISTERHOOD
My clients are my sisters, and I treat them as such. Direct communication is very important to me, and I am attentive to opportunities that directly minister to my clients. Sometimes I reach out to my clients either by text, email, or our private Facebook group. Other times, I don’t reach out right away because I don’t always know what to say. I have to seek God in prayer first. If I don’t see them in a while, I might send them a brief text asking how they are doing. Sometimes asking, “How can I pray for you?” is just what someone needs to hear. If there is a death in their family, we send flowers or a token of our love. We celebrate new marriages, babies, and graduations together. I’m familiar with their day to day stories, and I do my best to encourage them to keep striving…keep running, and if they fall, we (Serenity sisters) will help them get back up again. When a sister goes through a dry season, we are relentless. That means we persist in prayer, hold them accountable, and consistently communicate the message that we care!
Treating clients like sisters and family can be challenging. I’m a business owner, so I need to be profitable and I have a family and life outside of my business that I value. I use membership contracts, and I learned how to manage my time better. When they decide to leave, they understand they are still my sisters and will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. I learned to set healthy boundaries to ensure I keep my peace along with keeping the doors of Serenity open. For example, I have a designated person on staff who handles membership concerns and cancellations. I don’t respond to text messages right away anymore. They are answered when I have time in my schedule, and I work to keep a schedule where follow ups can be made.
At Serenity Life Fitness, helping women find balance is our top priority. If you were to visit Serenity, I believe you would not only get a GREAT workout, but you would leave feeling empowered. God has given us everything pertaining to life and Godliness. It’s up to us to choose the best life possible, which is the life God designed for us. Finally, I want to encourage you to seek God with all of your heart and allow Him to guide you as you seek balance. Only then will you discover the Serenity Secret in your own life.
