So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (NKJV)
God has a plan and purpose for your life. He knew you before you were born and had your life mapped out for you. He saw ahead how you would spend your days, the choices you would, and are yet to, make.
Our days are numbered. (The older I get the more I recognize this!)
Do you want to spend those days obsessing over your weight and pursuing weight loss?
Last month, I wrote about how God gives generously. He gives us wisdom. He provides guidance. He doesn’t withhold based on our behavior. He is a good God who loves us and wants to answer us.
I used to think my life’s mission was to find a magic pill and lose all the extra weight around my midsection. If someone said to me, “You look like you’ve lost weight. Have you been trying?” My response would be, “Always.”
It was no stretch to say that I felt like my life’s purpose was to lose weight. And yet, I remember reading everything I could about how to find God’s will for my life. I wanted to know what His will was. Surely, He wanted more for me than to pursue weight loss!
Well, He did. Thankfully, those days weren’t wasted. But it wasn’t that I lost all the weight, it was that I gained purpose: To help women break free from diets and discover how to feel good in their body at their current age and stage of life.

I learned that He doesn’t want you or me spending our days obsessing over our weight. He doesn’t want us to spend our days feeling uncomfortable in our bodies. The Lord wants us to spend our days living the life He’s designed for us.
What has He called you to do? Who has He placed in your life to love and serve?
You can’t do those things when your days are spent counting calories, exercising for hours, feeling less than, and hiding from people and experiences.
How are you spending your days? Are you happy with how you’re spending them? Are you being generous by sharing the gifts and calling God has placed on your life? Is God pleased with how you’re spending the days He’s gifted you?
