I read a social media post by Devan Kline, Founder of Burn Bootcamp, where he says, “I found God waiting for me in the stillness…”. What exactly is that stillness? Earlier in his post he describes things that were making noise in his life such as: alcohol, sugar, and, “…the demons I THOUGHT I had under control. The ones I buried under achievement, applause, and the illusion of ‘having it all figured out.’ I used to wake up every day and let the problem of the day dictate my attitude. I thought that was just ‘being a leader.’” Devan is the epitome of fitness success: he not only founded his own fitness business, but he’s a successful trainer, an author and so much more. All of that more was drowning out the stillness, which was the 1 thing he needed to be able to hear, the timbré – the distinct voice and character of God.

Fitness is good but if fitness is defining you then you need to know that until you ask for and let God continually define you, you’re not anywhere close to being truly fit.
LISTEN UP!
We all need to get an earful of Jesus’ instruction. The sound of God’s wisdom should be as clear as hearing weights being dropped to the floor – there’s no guessing, you know what you just heard. His voice isn’t some harmonious kumbaya. It calls you out from everything: the demons AND the successes. Your best YOU is heard at a pitch and volume that is unmistakably true to the specific resonance that is uniquely found between God and you. It’s a powerful vibe that can’t be matched.
MUSCLE VOLUME
The spiritual significance of timbré has a lot to do with not just your fitness lifestyle but all of life. Can you hear what that means? Hayden Daum can. We discovered Hayden through social media. He, like many of you, finds joy in the workouts.
Hayden has found that more than the size of his muscles, it’s the size of his relationship with God that really defines who he is. If you find it hard to hear God’s distinct voice for the unique purpose He has for your life and wish you could turn the volume up then listen to what Hayden has to say:
As you pursue this year to better understand the nature of God, I encourage you to not just be fit but to assure that your fitness has timbré. Faith & Fitness Magazine is your tool for powerful, healthy and passionate living in Christ. Contact me and let’s talk about how you’re hearing God’s voice.
