It’s nearing graduation time of year. High school students and college students will be moving onto the next chapter of their lives. So many possibilities. Goals. Dreams. Ladders to climb. Families to build.
You and I were there once as well. Big plans. Lists of all that we wanted to accomplish.
It’s great to have dreams and goals and to want to make a difference. It’s important to have those desires, as these young people do, but also at every stage of life. We’re always growing and evolving. The key is that we do this with God, in cooperation with Him. God has a plan and purpose for each of us at every stage of life.
The most important thing is that we know Him and nurture a relationship with Him. Then we have a choice to make: Will we walk God on the path He has paved for us?
When we put Him first, we not only learn how but we also desire to include Him in every part of our lives. Our goals for the major things as well as for daily living are driven by a desire to walk closely with God. This includes honoring Him in the way that we care for our bodies.
It’s never too late to start walking with God…in both the spiritual and physical sense of the word. Is there an area of your life that you haven’t included Him in?
He wants to spend time with you and wants to reveal Himself to you and guide every decision that you make. A great way to know Him more is to make your daily walk a walk with God. Include Him in your fitness. As you begin to look at your workout as time to spend with the Lord, you will be more apt to stay committed – to your fitness and to your faith. In the end, you will gain spiritual and physical benefits. At the end of your time, people will say that you not only walked but that you walked with God.
Action Step
Go for a walk and spend time with the Lord. You can gain spiritual benefits from physical activity when you integrate your faith and your fitness. As you walk, reflect on where you are today and where you’re going in life. Are you walking with God?
