How many songs should a church worship service have – 3, 5, 7… 17?! Traditional or contemporary? How loud? New tunes or the same familiar favorites? And, how much should the worship leader talk? These are just some of the top concerns church leaders and church attendees regularly find concerning. But, to the fitness enthusiast like you and me the sound of plates being loaded on to a bar, the gentle splashing of water as we swim laps, the foot beats as we run a trail — the sweating, the heart beating with energy, the deep exhale as we do another rep on the lat pull down bar — THIS is the sound of worship to us. And not because we worship fitness – not at all! We get it because it’s sooooo obvious, when we move: every muscle flex, every pain, every endorphin, our thoughts, our passions our obedience – in every way we move, God is moving in us.
It’s no surprise that 2 separate studies by the Barna Group show that people desire simplicity and difference-making in their spirituality and yet need help to understand what worship is and how to truly connect with God.
The Autumn 2025 issue of Faith & Fitness Magazine celebrates the simple nature of God and will help you discover how the lifestyle interest(s) God has given you can be a simply beautiful way to worship God.

What exactly is worship? It is the expression of love and devotion to God. The reason why we worship God isn’t just because God calls humans to do it but because it’s how you experience purpose and power in life.
The sweating, the heart beating with energy, the deep exhale as we do another rep on the lat pull down bar — THIS is the sound of worship to us.
We want to help you take your love for fitness, travel, gardening and the outdoors (through all 4 of Lifestyle Media Group‘s free online magazines) – your lifestyle interests and make them ways you pray, commune with God, fellowship with others, give of yourself, reflect, confess, proclaim, receive instruction, read the Bible and be spiritually expressive – all ways that you can do worship.
Sure, go ahead and sing songs of praise and worship. But DO worship every time you do fitness and everything else you do. Do what you do with Christ at the center of it all. THIS is worship!
Train strong in Christ,

Great job Brad! As I transition in Church as a Pastor and in season as Sports Coach the need to focus our energy and attention on what we Worship is even more paramount.
Praising God today for this accountability and access to a living God who is able to speak to us through multiple ways and that we get to Worship him in multiple ways too!
