The Strength Surge

We all may become disillusioned by social media and begin to feel like things are working out for everyone else but things just aren’t working out for us. But let’s be honest here, life is not easy. Despite what you see on your Facebook timeline, we are all facing some circumstance or trial that may be testing our faith whether it’s sickness, finances, marital problems, or unemployment, there is much for us to be troubled by. During those times we are convinced that giving up is the easiest thing. The pressure becomes too much for us in our weakness. What do we do when we face the impossible? Where do we turn when it seems that nothing is working? Where does our strength come from?

This idea of strength also applies to our fitness regimen. There’s that moment when you feel that you’ve reached the end of your strength. You’ve got three more reps. You’ve got one more mile. You’ve got two minutes left. The end is right before you yet, giving up seems much more feasible. Where can we find strength?

Our strength comes from the Father. Scripture after scripture tell us that he gives us strength in our weakness.

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” – Isaiah 40:29

If we know that God strengthens us, we no longer have to search for strength within ourselves. We can boldly call on the name of Jesus and ask for strength. When the circumstances seem to difficult to bear, pray for strength. When we’ve reached what we feel is the end of our workout and we just can’t go anymore, we ask God to strengthen us. Even when we are faced with temptation, we ask God to strengthen us so that we are lead by the spirit.

Make this scripture a daily confession:

“but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Imagine soaring through every obstacle. Imagine running and not becoming weary, walking and never growing faint. This is the strength God gives us. David was one who often felt weary and found strength in calling on the Lord. One of the scriptures he wrote that would serve as an awesome prayer for strength is Psalm 119:28 which says, “My soul is weary with sorrow, strengthen me according to your word.”

We can take giving up off the table and instead depend on God to give us strength to endure; strength to finish strong!

 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

When we make a habit of going to God in our weakness, we will find that we grow closer to him and we learn to depend on him for all that we need.
