Thanksgiving just passed and thanks to the family relative that didn't make enough food, I didn't have a second or third plate. I didn't even have left overs for the next day. But normally I do. I go in on holidays but then the New Year comes and I realize that I have gained more pounds than I would have liked. I have found that I gain more weight for two reasons 1) I am so busy visiting with family that I neglect my exercise routine and 2) I simply have too much food. The Bible places gluttony and drunkenness in the same category. Proverbs 23:21 says, "For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags." Let us be mindful of our eating this holiday season and below is a prayer to solidify our stance.
Dear Father,
First thank you that we have family to spend the Holidays with. Thank you for food to eat in a world where so many are starving and hungry. Thank you for sending your only son to die for ours sins. We honor your sacrifice with our lives. Help us to enjoy good food but to avoid gluttonous habits. Let our motivation be rooted and grounded in honoring you.We love you and praise you Lord.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen
