If Tyler Durden was More Like Jesus…

Author: Jason Rhymer

…then Project Mayhem would look a lot more like Project LOA (Love One Another – John 15:17)

"Uh, really Jason Rhymer?  That's how you come back to the F&F blogosphere after a prolonged absence?  What are you talking about?"

Yes…yes it is, and I will explain.

First, my apologies for lack of writing, but high school youth ministry, personal training, acting, and family (not actually in that order) have taken a precedent.

For youth ministry, we launched a radical idea…what if we actually DID what Jesus said to do rather than just read about it.  Ok, not that radical, but good none the less.

Project LOA started with a simple request of our high schoolers.  Just show-up with a roll of quarters and your Bible.  We went to a laundromat and offered to pay for strangers' laundry and just be nice and fellowship.  What transpired was a magical night and a relationship with a family where we surprised them the next week with washer and dryer!

You can read more about this experience in the Oct. 28 edition of the Cornerstone at this link on our church website. Scroll to the article titled "A Night at Duds N' Suds."

But I share this with you here because we had "church" in a laundromat.  We had a profound spiritual experience in a place I had driven by many times.  We had church in a place that I was worried may be unsafe for our youth.  We felt the presence of God in a place that no one would think is possible.

So a few questions for you to consider:

1) Where do you need to go to feel the love of God?  There is some place like Duds N' Suds that is calling you to visit or get out of your comfort zone to have a new experience with God. Just go!

2) Where do you need to go, or what do you need to change to have a new and exciting fitness experience.  I always parallel my spiritual journey with my fitness journey.  They learn and grow from each other.  Find a new park, gym, training partner, race, program, sport, or challenge to jump-start your fitness life.  Just go!

Live with Strength!

Jason
