Get Ready to Fight

Get Ready to Fight

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.  On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

                                                                                                            2 Corinthians 10:4-5

There is a battlefield in your mind.  Every day the enemy will come and try to tell you:

– how pitiful you are

– how unlovable you are

– how fat you are

– how you'll never be free

-how you'll never amount to anything, etc.

Satan sometimes puts lies like these in your mind and sometimes he has another person speak them into your life.  In that moment, you have a decision – you can dwell on that thought or you can combat it with God's word.  If Satan can get you to dwell on the lie long enough, it will drop into your heart.  Then you begin believing the lie and it becomes truth to you.  You start speaking that lie with your mouth.  Matthew 12:34 (KJV) says, “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”  What has your mouth been speaking?  Have you been saying negative things about yourself?

What you play over and over in your mind and say out of your mouth will significantly impact your ability to have freedom from strongholds.  You have a choice to cast enemy thoughts away. You can “take every thought captive” and make them line up with what God says about you – that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 139:14).

I want to warn you that the enemy does not want you healthy.  He does not want your emotional wounds to be healed.  He will fight really hard to keep you sick and stupid.  Because Satan knows that once you are free from your inner pain, crippling addictions and excess weight, you could be dangerous.  You could get off the couch and start doing exceptional things for God.

Of course, you would have to let go of some things first.  We are a wounded people.  Many have been wounded by a parent, a spouse or another person we trusted.  The enemy loves to use these wounds to keep us bound.  He wants us to be tied to the past, always looking back and never moving forward.  There comes a time when you have to decide.   Are you going to continue rolling in the pain and the mess?  Or are you going to get up, let Jesus dust you off, and let Him heal your wounds so that you can start a new life of freedom?

What will it be?  I pray that you decide to let Jesus help you regain your life – spirit, soul and body.

Lord Jesus, thank you for taking all my sin and shame on the cross.  I give my life to You.  Help me to live a life that is pleasing to You.
