Try A Triathlon

Fitness Adventure: Try a Triathlon

Where: All Over the U.S. (30+ events)

When: April through November

The Low-Down

What could do more for your fitness than gearing up for a triathlon: cross-training, a clock to race against, and an intensely focused group of athletes to commune with. Even better, keep your focus in the right place by attending an IRONPRAYER event sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes – Endurance. IRONPRAYER is a non-denominational gathering of athletes, family, and friends for a time of worship, testimonies, and prayer prior to Ironman and other triathlon events around the world. The purpose is to help everyone get their focus on the true source of strength, God, and to the needs of others as we pray for each other. Go to the FCA-Endurance website to see a list of event times and places to find one near your planned vacation spot.

Other Stuff to Do

Get to your triathlon destination early so you can get acclimated and ready for your race. One great aspect of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is that you are not alone. Contact the local chapter of the FCA Endurance who is putting on the IRONPRAYER and they will give you ideas for what else to do in that area. Building a summer vacation around running a triathlon is a great way to get to some really fun destinations that offer a variety of local foods and experiencs, participate in pre-event activities and interact with some engaging people like ultra-triathlete Jason Lester. Watch the video of him participating in an IRONPRAYER.

The new Shout! Outdoor Lifestyle Magazine has an entire department dedicated to bringing you driving accounts of endurance on the subject of PEDAL, RACE AND RUN. Before you leave this page you can post your comments and fitness adventure experiences below.
