Where Will You Dwell?

where will you dwell

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23:6 (NIV)

All the days…

God is good. Every day. All the time. His goodness is available to us every day. His love is available to us every day. What do I have to do for it?

To be sure, God gives His love to us freely. He died for us even when we were still sinners. Yet, the second part of this verse jumps out at me: “and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Yes, when we take our last breath on earth, we will go to be with the Father forever. But, His presence is available to us while we live too. I must choose to dwell in His house, in His presence. You and I get to choose each day where our focus will be. Will I look to God and His goodness? Will I be grateful for all He is and all He does? Will I receive His love for me?

He is good, and He loves you, but you must receive it. While we walk this earth, it’s a choice to dwell in His presence. There are many things that can distract and consume us. We have homes and families to care for. There are relationships to nurture. We have to make a living. We have to care for our bodies. Any of those things can become idols, things that distract us and consume our attention. As a result, we’ll find ourselves drifting out of and away from His presence. However, by placing our minds and thoughts and focus on Him, we can dwell in His presence daily.

When you receive God’s love for you, you can dwell in His presence daily. He will walk with you throughout your day. Those things that once distracted you and consumed you can now become things that draw you closer to Him. Surrender them to Him and invite Him to guide you. When you dwell in His presence, you will have clarity and peace of mind as you face your daily activities.

It’s time to receive God’s love for you. Will you? He is good, and He loves you so much! Choose to focus on that today. It’s the first step to dwell in His presence and to continue all the days of your life.

Action Step

Spend some time with the Lord today. Take a walk. Invite Him to go with you and make those steps your holy ground.
