Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
How do you approach the Lord? What concerns do you take to Him?
We can become timid with the Lord. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that everything—every single thing—is important to Him.
I’ve found myself using prayer as an afterthought. At times I’ll quickly make a decision and then later realize I should have prayed for direction before committing to or passing on something.
Some things seem too simple, maybe they wouldn’t be important to the Lord.
I run into this often when it comes to helping women with their fitness and body image. Faith and fitness? How do those two things go together? Do you really pray about those things?
They do go together. And yes, I pray about my relationship with my body as well as with food and exercise.
Most people consult the owner’s manual of a new product to operate or assemble it. We have a Creator, a Maker. He wrote a Book about how to live and filled it with the message of love for us.
Shouldn’t we consult Him and that manual about everything? Even how to live in this body He’s entrusted to us?
He invites us to come...and to come boldly to His throne. You can approach Him and ask for His help in any and every situation—for yourself as well as for others. Taking our burdens to the Lord is one of the privileges that we get from following Christ. In fact, that’s the way He wants it. That’s what He desires from us—to come to Him and lay our concerns at His feet. He will give us help.
What is your struggle today? Is there something bothering you that you thought you can’t bother Him with? He’s inviting you to come to His throne. Once you take it to Him and seek His help, He might ask you to use that experience to help those around you.
When God set me free from the bondage of weight loss worries, He did it not only for me but also for other women. Even though I’m a rather shy and introverted person, He asked me to share the message of how to live fit and free with others. It has stretched me…in the best of ways. That boldness that we go to the throne with is the same boldness that will help us to continue boldly doing that which He’s called us to do…when we trust in Him.
Action Step
Go boldly to the Lord today and each day this week. Then go forth boldly to do what He instructs you to do.
