The Missing Piece

Perhaps this isn’t your first attempt to stick to a diet and fitness plan to improve your health.  Sadly, it’s been reported that 93% of all fad exercise, fitness and diet plans fail, which is dismal.  Another sad statistic is Americans spent over $60 billion in 2013 trying to lose weight yet our obesity rates continue to climb. Why is it so difficult to remain dedicated and faithful to diet and fitness when our health is at risk? What has to change in order for you to succeed? 

I have to believe the answer is found in the commentary of 2 Chronicles; ”The secret to victory is first to admit the futility of unaided human effort and then to trust God to save. His power works best through those who recognize their limitations. It is those who think they can do it on their own that are in the greatest danger.”  Although 2 Chronicles isn’t about diet, exercise and striving for a healthier lifestyle, this statement is critical in your journey towards better health because it reveals two things:

1. You can’t do this on your own

2. You need God’s help It’s important you believe the significance of this message and act upon it, if you want to break free from the fitness frustration cycle.

BREAK FREE FROM FITNESS FRUSTRATION 

This is my 30th year in the fitness industry, and for three decades I have seen thousands of people get trapped in the fitness frustration cycle. Perhaps this has happened to you. You make a passionate resolution to lose weight year after year on January 1st. Then you dive head first into the latest exercise and diet craze that promises you lose 10 pounds within the first week. When you turn the calendar to February 1st you might have lost a few pounds, but you’re also losing your passion to lose weight. By March 1st you’ve packed the pounds you lost back on and gained another five!

You’re not alone. Take heart!  You don’t have to become one of millions entrapped by the fitness frustration cycle.   You really can become dedicated to a fitness and diet regime that brings the results you're looking for! The first step it to allow God to be at the center of your fitness. We need to allow God to change the way we think we we can "ReThink Fitness"

How do you re-think fitness? The Bible has the answer, "let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do.” WOW! God changes the way we think and then we are able to change our actions. To make a lifestyle transformation it starts by changing the way we think! Our thoughts matter!! This is super important so please don’t read this too quickly. Pray and ask God to change the way you think, Ask Him to give you the desire for healthy food. Ask His to give you the desire to exercise. You obviously have a role to play but it begins by asking God to help you..

Faithful Workouts' blog posts hope to challenge you to change the way you think. We are going to challenge you to look at fitness from a new perspective. My prayer is you keep your mind and heart open to what God will reveal to you during this journey. Most likely your journey will not be a direct path, there will be some wrong turns, but if you stick with this plan and allow God to change the way you think, you will finally break free from your old habits!
