Even when it’s difficult be faithful and SMILE. Don’t just do it because you hope you’ve got the strength to persevere – Do it because GOD has called you to endure the difficulty for a purpose and has confidence in YOU!

So, I finally made it back to the Y yesterday for the first time since this whole pandemic created a major disturbance in my fitness lifestyle. This interruption revealed and drove home a truth – we don’t really need the gym BUT — we need the gym! (More on this in another feature, Can Your Church And Gym Be “Essential” During The Next Pandemic? Very quickly I selfishly applied the theme, 1 Set Of Infinite Reps, from the June/July 2020 issue of Faith & Fitness Magazine to my timed workout at the Y .

The staff members were in prison guard mode. I got up from my weightlifting bench to switch weights and returned to the social-distancing police moving it because they deemed it to be to close to another. I was fortunate though, the guy next to me got up and when he returned was told he’d have to go to another room because the room was now too crowded. I decided to just stay put as if I was the solitary owner of my bench and do “1 set of infinite reps” — I’ve now adequately done enough pec flys for the rest of the month!

If you’re thinking that this issue’s theme is literally about only focusing on one exercise and doing it ad nauseam, be assured it is not. Rather I invite you to join with your fellow readers to explore what GOD wants to do in YOUR life and then discuss how life can be truly glorious when we do that.

OK, I know, your thinking “glorious”? Are you dreaming? What does that even mean? I just want to be healthy and happy – kind of like that whole “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” thing.

Well, since you’re reading Faith & Fitness Magazine I’m going to presume that beyond just eating better, moving more and being physically vibrant you see something more. Your vision of total fitness includes experiencing peace, hope, joy and compassion, owning your purpose in life and not only knowing and embracing spiritually strong values but personally passing them on to future generations. Put all that together and yeah! — That IS glorious, at least in part.

What? There’s more? Oh yes! Here’s the invite to not just be built up and see your potential but to be challenged to take costly action and be an individual with eternal responsibility.

Show me what you seek in me, and how this becomes reality. I’m willing to be all you see.      -More Than A Dream/Raze

The old-school bodybuilding mentality of sets and reps simply asks, how heavy and how many? It’s the push harder paradigm that is applied to not only strength training but also your finances, family, relationships, career, goals and every part of life. It’s time to reengineer our thinking and introduce a better approach to making significant gains.

1 Set Of Infinite Reps means doing one thing well – over and over again. When you start to realize that you can do so much with so little then the excuses, challenges and things set against you fade in influence.

Listen close – You’re uniquely made for a very special purpose. We all have to quit insisting that we’re in control. Purity of heart and singularity of focus IS stewardship. That is the expectation to have. God invites each of us to have a solitary relationship with Him. It’s not difficult but it demands intentional persistence. It’s not an emotive and wimpish mindset rather it is a clear journey in ongoing spiritual preparation and a personal eternal vocation that is truly effectual.

Just work hard and help the weak. All you really need to do is be faithful and have good form. It’s time to manage that well. How heavy should you go? Do it with everything you’ve got! Once you’ve done 70×7 just keep going – like for forever. God alone is infinite #solideoinfinito. When you give it all, God will bless beyond your wildest dreams.

Train strong in Christ,
