St. Gregory’s was founded in 2005 by parents who wanted a faith based alternative program for their son who struggled with addiction. Summit Behavioral Health acquired St. Gregory’s in 2018. SBH owns 24 treatment centers throughout the US but St. Gregory’s is their only faith based treatment program. St. Gregory’s is one of very few programs that offer a Catholic treatment option in the US.
A TREATMENT PROGRAM THAT IS JUST RIGHT FOR YOU
Saint Gregory’s catholic rehab program is flexible if one method doesn’t seem to work we’ll try another. If you require detox, it will be administered by our team of medical professionals who understand addiction. Once your body is ready to go, You can focus on other aspects of treatment. Talking about underlying factors in your addiction, such as stress, depression, or sexual trauma in the past, will help the recovery process.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most successful strategies in rehab. It will help you recognize emotional triggers that lead to drug abuse, loneliness, bitterness, Guilt, anger, and anxiety are common pitfalls. When you know what your triggers are, you can put plans in place to cope with them in healthy ways.
We’ll teach you to start new habits that support clean living. Life coaching will help you with motivation and accountability to your recovery life plan long after you graduate from the program.
Group meetings lay the foundation for a strong network of ongoing support after rehab. All these methods are enriched by individual counseling, spiritual seminars, and worship services.
The St. Gregory Recovery Program offers a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment that combines the very best research in psychology, health, social support and other methodologies into a single, integrative approach. We offer interventions targeted at each of the four manifestations of addiction defined by the American Society of Addiction Medicine: biological, psychological, social and spiritual.
Our program empowers guests to focus not on who they have been and what they have done but on who they want to be and how they can get there.
FITNESS TO FEED YOUR SPIRIT
St. Gregory’s works on healing Mind, Body, and Spirit. and that is why exercise at our 2-story rec center is a required part of our curriculum. It is also why we teamed up with Iowa State University for a study on movement and wellness while going through treatment.
Part of honoring yourself in sobriety is being honest about where you are and setting reasonable goals for yourself. If your goal is to feel better and get more fit, start small. Decide to take a 10-15 minute walk once or twice a day. After some time, you might discover that you want to walk longer. Eventually, you might want to break into a run.
If you enjoy gym culture, join a local gym and work with a personal trainer. A good personal trainer will meet you where you’re at and help you build gradually from there.
The point is to find an exercise or activity that feeds not just your body but also your spirit–and one that connects you with like-minded people who can help motivate you to keep going when you’d rather give up.

THE DIFFERENCE A FAITH BASED PROGRAM MAKES
At St. Gregory, we introduce our clients to our exclusive Virtuous Life program. This is a loving invitation to change the path that has led to an addictive lifestyle.
In the Virtuous Life program, we explore seven virtues (faith, hope, love, prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance) as a path for improving and transforming our lives. We examine each individual virtue with a view toward understanding what it is and how we can apply it in our own lives and circumstances.
The virtues are faith-based habits that allow us consistently to make better choices. By developing these virtues, we develop the habit of making better choices to create better outcomes for our lives.
