Still here

I am still struggling with the workouts and fitting them into my schedule. So far this month I have worked 43 hours of OT. I feel like I work, sleep, and back to work I go. I know I need to fit in the workout in my day, and I know it would only benefit me, but for some reason I can never get it done. The diet is going great. I am still off the caffiene and soda. I have started packing all of my meals at work, which lately are a lot of meals. I have stayed strong with not eating carbs after 1300 hrs and it has worked amazing. I am below my initial goal weight and it keeps coming off little by little. Now I want to put some weight back on but in muscle and I know in order to do that I need to start exercising. Another amazing side result of this program is my wife has seen the amazing results God has blessed me with, and she is slowly starting to change things in her own eating and exercise habits. Amazing! I hope all are still doing well, and I apologize for not posting as much as I should.

Missed Opportunity

I missed an opportunity last night to share God's power and strength with my family. I was at dinner with my wife and her family celebrating my 32nd birthday. My father in law and my mother in law commented on my weight loss. I was very excited and I told them about my exercise, and new healthier eating habits but I left out the most important part. The part that makes all of this even possible, the fit to serve part. None of my weight loss or fitness achievements are worth anything if I don't use each opportunity to give god the glory that he deserves and try to lead others to him. I ask myself why? Did I just lapse and space or was it in someway intentional. My in-laws are not anit-religion but they are practicing believers either. What a grand opportunity the lord presented me with, and what a horrible performance on my part. Like anything in life, and like I tell my son and daughter when they make mistakes. I intend to learn from this, and not make the same mistake twice. Hopefully the lord will bless me with another opportunity to serve and to give him the glory.

exercise: not so good/ nutrition: not bad

Since I have started with Coach Powers I have lost 9 pounds. I used to skip breakfast or sleep through it, eat lunch on the run and then have a huge carb filled fast food dinner at work, and last but not least I would come home at 2300 hrs or 11 pm and have whatever I could locate in the pantry to eat while I sat in front of the television. Dont forget to add in the 2 or 3 vanilla lattes during the day, and 3 to 4 Dr. Peppers. The fit to live program has drastically altered my eating habits. Now I wake up and have a quick bowl of Wheaties, do my work out or sprints, and then have what I call my second breakfast. I have a healthy lunch before I leave for work at 1200 and then I have a Cliff protien bar with a green tea at approximately 200 pm. I replaced my fast food dinners with salad and a piece of fruit. If I get hungry after dinner I have a Cliff C bar. That is it and it has worked wonders. My wife says my face is thinner, and I have had to bring in my belt twice since I changed the way I eat. I haven't had a soda (Dr. Pepper was my weakness) or a vanilla latte (Starbucks no longer gets my money) since Jan 1, 2010. So nutrionally I have been doing good or not bad. Exercise is another story. I have been sporadic in my workouts and not as consistent as I would like. I have decided to make a designated block for my workouts and then stick to it. I am going to do my weights/sprints first thing in the morning between 0700-0900 and then do my cardio at night before bed. I started that routine today so we will see how it goes. The most important part is I have more energy to spend time with my wife and kids and my emotions are much more balanced. I am working to becoming the person God intended for me to be, I have alot more to do before I am even close to that person but I have taken the first few baby steps and I feel good.

way to go Clay

Sounds like you are really heading in the right direction, especially the true joys of life. keep tweeking and innovating, trying new time management ideas, and of course ask the greatest time manager of all for help with your busy schedule (he did a lot in seven days!) mark

the action plan

Go Clay!

how's your IT band injury and how did the Birkie race go?

You've made my day with your progress - congratulations! Again, the big key is making small consistent changes over time. All of us have to tweek and work through schedules that work for us. The two-a-day exercise sessions is the strategy that gives the greatest results - because it keeps our metabolic rate ramped up higher throughout our 24 hour physiological cycle. In the end however, it's what works best for the individual and is most realistic that takes precedence.

Inspired,

coach

good job!!

Hi Clay,
I am on the journey with you. I can relate to the sporadic workouts and juggling of schedules. I have changed mine three times and am hoping that I have finally found a schedule that works. Keep up the good work with the eating changes and good luck with finding your ideal schedule.
Blessings,
Kim
